Veterans are significantly more likely to experience homelessness than the average American. About 1.5 million veterans are considered at-risk of homelessness.
There are many federal housing programs that support Veterans and their families while they are experiencing homelessness. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and VA Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH) partner to provide permanent, supportive housing and treatment services for homeless Veterans.
Veterans may be eligible for a wide-variety of benefits. VA benefits include disability compensation, pension, education and training, health care, home loans, insurance, vocational rehabilitation and employment, and burial.
