WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, urged his colleagues to confirm Lauren McFerran as a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). President Obama nominated McFerran to fill Board Member Nancy Schiffner’s seat, which is set to expire December 16th.

The American people need a qualified and dedicated Board Member who will protect our nation’s working families and ensure fairness in the workplace. Ms. McFerran is exactly the Board Member we need. She has a long history of public service and, notably, has helped the Committee advance critical bills that would raise the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for women and prevent workplace discrimination. She understands that these policies will enable our country’s workers to lead more prosperous, stable, and happy lives, and I am thrilled to support her because of it. The NLRB is the most important safeguard for both employees and employers that we have today, and Ms. McFerran is more than ready and able to tackle the important issues facing our nation’s workforce.
