WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will join a bipartisan congressional delegation led by U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) to attend this weekend’s Munich Security Conference (MSC). The MSC is widely considered the world’s leading forum for international security policy. The conference is a “marketplace of ideas” where initiatives and solutions are developed and opinions are exchanged. It also provides a venue for diplomatic initiatives and ideas to cooperatively address the world’s most pressing security concerns.

“We are in a truly precarious moment – Putin appears more and more likely to further invade Ukraine, and Iran is closer than ever to achieving a nuclear weapon capability. That’s what makes this year’s Munich Security Conference especially important,” said Murphy. “I’m glad to be part of this bipartisan congressional delegation traveling to Europe to show Putin that the United States and our allies stand united in support of the Ukrainian people and to work with our European partners to prevent a nuclear Iran. I look forward to the discussions this weekend about how the United States can use diplomacy to deter Putin’s aggression, find a path forward in nuclear negotiations with Tehran, and cement U.S. national security objectives in the pursuit of regional and global stability.”

Other members of the congressional delegation include U.S. Senators Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Mark Warner (D-Va.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Chris Van Hollen (R-Md.), and U.S. Representatives Mike Turner (R-Ohio), James Langevin (D-R.I.), Jim Banks (R-Ind.), Jason Crow (D-Colo.), Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.), Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas.).
