WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) offered his condolences following the death of U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona. Murphy will attend the funeral service for McCain on Saturday in Washington, D.C.
“The Senate, the United States, and the world are better places thanks to John. He was a larger than life presence because his love of country and the strength of his convictions transcended his political affiliation. When he spoke, people of both parties listened, and there aren’t many like him anymore,” said Murphy. “I will never forget how he took me under his wing when I got to the Senate, traveling the globe together standing up for democracy and human rights. He taught me what it meant to be a senator representing the best of American values abroad. I learned from the a great man and mentor.”
“I will forever consider myself lucky to have served in the Senate with John, and his death just steels inside me a desire to work to continue his legacy of honor, decency, and respect of others,” Murphy continued.
