WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Monday released the following statement on the unprecedented protests in Cuba over lack of access to medical supplies and food and the worsening economy:
“The United States stands with the people of Cuba who are insisting their government respect their basic human rights. The Cuban government should respond to the legitimate aspirations of its people and refrain from using any violence against the media and peaceful protestors,” said Murphy.
