WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Friday released the following statement on the Supreme Court decision in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, allowing businesses to deny services to LGBTQ couples:

“This week’s rulings made it perfectly clear that the right wing justices on the Supreme Court are just making it up as they go along, imposing their political will on the country under the guise of constitutional law. Their decision today to legalize discrimination against LGBTQ people – based off a fabricated legal dispute - will open the floodgates to future litigation and further roll back the decades of progress we’ve made towards equality, just as they intended. The Court’s open acceptance of bigotry could not be further from the sentiment of most Americans. We must do everything in our power to protect the right of Americans to live honest, open lives with the person they love.”
