WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement on Sikorsky:
"For nearly 90 years, Sikorsky has provided generations and generations of hard working Connecticut residents with stable and meaningful career opportunities. In turn, Connecticut workers have manufactured the best helicopters ever made. That's been a great deal for our state and our nation, and the sale of Sikorsky shouldn't change that. I will be reviewing the deal in the coming days and will work closely with Lockheed and Sikorsky leadership to protect those jobs and ensure that Sikorsky helicopters continue to be made right here in Connecticut by our skilled and talented workforce. In particular, I want to make sure that the pensions that current and former Sikorsky employees earned are fully honored as part of this sale. That's important.
"Connecticut's defense manufacturing industry is the envy of the world, and I am committed to supporting and defending the tens of thousands of jobs it supports across our state."
