WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday released a statement following Senate passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“I don’t agree with everything in this bill, but the Senate passed a serious piece of legislation to strengthen national security, counter China and Russia’s global influence, and create good-paying jobs for Connecticut manufacturers. It’s shameful that House Republicans can’t say the same. Instead, House Republicans passed a bill bursting with outrageous amendments – like banning drag shows, prohibiting Pride Month, preventing female service members from accessing reproductive health care – that have absolutely nothing to do with the national defense. Their legislation is nothing but a vehicle for their relentless attacks on the LGBTQ community and pursuit of a nationwide abortion ban, and it has no shot of getting anywhere close to passage in the Senate.”
