WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Tuesday released the following statement on the recent build-up of Russian military forces along the Ukrainian border:

“Russia’s aggressive military build-up and troop movements along the Ukrainian border remain deeply concerning. There is strong, bipartisan commitment in Congress to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and so as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I’m glad Secretary Blinken is being crystal clear that any escalation or destabilizing actions by Russian forces would be met with serious consequences. The U.S. and Europe must stay closely coordinated to communicate to Putin that any further aggression against Ukraine would not be worth the cost,” said Murphy.

In April, Murphy released a statement on the build-up of Russian forces at the Ukrainian border ahead of Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s meeting with NATO.
