WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia and Counterterrorism, on Thursday released the following statement on the release of American citizens wrongfully imprisoned in Iran:
“I am immensely relieved that Morad Tahbaz, Siamak Namazi, Emad Shargi, and other unjustly detained Americans have been released from prison. I have worked nonstop with Senator Blumenthal and Congressman Himes to get Morad and his fellow detainees released, and I’m thrilled that this day has arrived. Nevertheless, we will not breathe easy until Morad and Vida are home with their family in Connecticut. I will continue doing everything in my power to bring these American citizens home.”
