WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Tuesday released the following statement on President Biden’s Executive Actions to protect undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens and streamline access to work visas for Dreamers with employment offers:

“It’s no secret our current immigration system is not only broken, but unfair. Today’s actions will help keep families together by protecting hundreds of thousands of people who have spent at least ten years in the U.S. building a life, and will make it easier for young people, including Dreamers, who have been educated here in the U.S. to receive work visas so they can continue using their talents and skills to strengthen our economy and our country. I’m glad President Biden is taking proactive steps to provide stability for these families and young people, but there’s only so much the executive branch can do to fix a fundamentally broken system. Republicans need to stop playing politics and work with Democrats to do the hard work of passing immigration reform.”
