HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement on Thursday after Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced he is not seeking a third term

“Dan Malloy has steered our state through good and bad times. Under his leadership, our state has been at the forefront of ensuring workers earn a living wage, providing access to quality health care for all, reducing gun violence, and giving people a second chance to turn their lives around. The Governor's constant presence in Washington has helped the delegation win an unprecedented amount of federal funds to create jobs in Connecticut. And on a personal note, words can't convey the debt we all owe Dan for the steady, calming hand he laid on our state's shoulder in the hours, days, and weeks following the tragedy in Sandy Hook.

“As Governor Malloy noted today, he still has a lot of work to do, and I look forward to working with him over the remainder of his term to help Connecticut’s economy recover and expand."
