WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee overseeing the U.S. Capitol Police, on Tuesday released the following statement on the Biden administration’s National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism:
“Domestic terrorism remains a grave threat to our country, and I’m pleased to see that the Biden administration released a serious strategy for countering it,” said Murphy. “We all lived through the horrific events of January 6th, and it’s time we devote the necessary federal resources to understanding and combating the type of domestic extremism that led to the assault on the Capitol. I look forward to hearing more from the administration about the new strategy they’ve laid out, and working with the homeland security, intelligence and law enforcement agencies tasked with implementing it.”
