WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of U.S. Senate Foreign Relations subcommittees with jurisdiction over Europe and counterterrorism, released the following statement on the attack outside of the U.K. Parliament in London, England, on Wednesday. British police have launched a full counter-terrorism investigation.

“My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the people of the United Kingdom. As one of our strongest allies, a threat to the UK is a threat to us. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been in close contact with British law enforcement to offer support in the ongoing investigation. As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, I will continue to support robust counterterrorism efforts and strongly press our European allies to do more to collect and share information with the United States about any potential terrorist threats.”
