WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, on Thursday released the following statement after the U.S Senate approved the continuing resolution to fund the government until December 3rd.

“It’s a good thing that we were able to prevent Republicans shutting down the government, but we need to acknowledge that this isn’t the way it should be. We shouldn’t be throwing a party for the Senate keeping the government open for just 2 more months. We need Republicans to put aside gamesmanship and come to the table to increase the debt ceiling and pass a real budget. These stopgap measures are beneath us,” said Murphy.
