WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Wednesday released the following statement after meeting with Mayor of New York City Eric Adams:

“New York, like so many cities in Connecticut, is plagued by the kind of daily gun violence that destroys families but rarely makes the headlines. I was glad to meet with Mayor Adams to hear more about his city’s efforts to keep communities safe by cracking down on ghost guns, investing in mental health resources, and supporting community violence intervention programs. Mayors are often on the frontlines of this epidemic, and it’s up to Congress to make sure they’re supported in this fight,” said Murphy.
