WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Tuesday released the following statement before the Committee’s confirmation hearing for Deborah Lipstadt, nominee for U.S. State Department Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism:
“Even decades after the Holocaust, anti-Semitism continues to rear its ugly head all around the world—and even in our own backyard. It’s critical we have a diplomat in place to work with our partners abroad to counter such religious hatred and protect Jewish communities around the world. Deborah Lipstadt is eminently qualified, and I look forward to advancing her nomination to fill this important post,” said Murphy.
