WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) consulting firm Design Automation Associates (DAA) is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” DAA was founded in 1997 to help manufacturing clients solve complex product development problems which improve product quality and performance. The company operates out of a 7,500-square foot facility in Windsor Locks and employs 45 people.

DAA’s engineering and computer science consultants work with manufacturers to implement Industry 4.0 PLM digitalization applications which improve product development speed, cost, and quality. DAA specializes in the aerospace and defense, shipbuilding, energy, automotive, consumer products, and medical device industries. Their top clients include Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace, General Dynamic’s Electric Boat, Proctor & Gamble, and Newport News Shipbuilding.

“Connecticut’s booming manufacturing industry is fortunate to have companies like DAA, Inc. to help make sure our leading defense, aerospace and health care manufacturers have the most up to date products and solutions. Their technology and innovation help companies that keep our country safe. I’m proud to highlight their work,” said Murphy.

John Lambert, CEO of DAA added, “Connecticut is a world-leader in implementing Industry 4.0 PLM Digitalization technologies for manufacturers of highly complex products. Residing in Connecticut allows DAA to gain access to high-tech employees and some of the most sophisticated manufacturers in the world who can gain the competitive benefits of Industry 4.0 PLM digitalization solutions.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating the state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the BuyAmerican.gov Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
