HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Lauretano Sign Group of Terryville is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” On Friday, Murphy and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) will visit Lauretano for its 70th anniversary celebration during Manufacturing Day.
Founded in 1946, Lauretano manufactures and installs signs throughout the United States and around the world. Additionally, Lauretano offers energy-efficient LED sign lighting and recycles 100% of its excess material. Lauretano manufactures and services signs for a variety of clients, including Connecticut staples like United Technologies, UConn, Stew Leonards, The Hartford, Webster Bank, Cigna, and Aetna, as well as national clients like Hilton, H&M, Travel Centers of America, and Applebee’s.
In just the past four years, Lauretano has more than doubled its sales and now employs about 50 employees at its Terryville facility. Currently, the company is hiring at all levels of the company, offering good-paying job opportunities for local Connecticut residents. Each year, Lauretano hosts a Manufacturing Day event to draw attention to opportunities in manufacturing careers.
"I’m excited to visit their facility in Terryville on Friday to celebrate 70 years of manufacturing in our state,” said Murphy. “Whether it’s their commitment to recycling 100% of their waste or their success in doubling sales in less than five years, Lauretano has a lot to be proud of.”
“Lauretano is a leader in the sign industry throughout the nation and beyond. Our 70 years of accomplishments have come from the fine men and women we employ in Connecticut,” Michael Lauretano Jr., President of Lauretano Sign Group.
The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
