HARTFORD–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that NourishedRx, based in Stamford, was named December’s “Innovator of the Month.” Founded in 2019, NourishedRx is a woman-owned company that bridges the gap between health care and nutrition through its AI-enabled platform, which matches individuals facing diet sensitive chronic health conditions or nutrition insecurity with highly personalized food solutions and nutrition consultations. NourishedRx has also established partnerships with multiple Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid plans to provide its services as part of an all-encompassing healthcare solution.

“Access to nutritious foods is key to improving health outcomes. That’s why the team at NourishedRx is working to better integrate nutrition with health care through their evidence-based, AI-enabled platform.  I’m proud to recognize their innovative approach toward addressing food insecurity, and look forward to their continued growth in Connecticut,” said Murphy.

“Building our company in Connecticut has been wonderful. We’re grateful for the support and partnership of Connecticut Innovations and have enjoyed being part of UConn Technology Incubator Program (TIP). Being in CT is definitely helping us on our way to achieving our mission of improving lives, enhancing health equity and bending the health care cost curve,” said Lauren Driscoll, Founder and CEO of NourishedRx.

Murphy believes entrepreneurship and innovation are the building blocks for a strong economy. In the U.S. Senate, he has introduced legislation to incentivize angel investors to put more money into startup companies—the Angel Tax Credit Act. Startup companies create an average of 2 million jobs each year.
