SOUTHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that C.V. Tool Company, Inc. of Southington is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” C.V. Tool is a family-owned manufacturer of machined tools, steam turbine packing rings, and other hardware for the aerospace, nuclear, and steam turbine industries. C.V. Tool has a wide range of clientele, ranging in size from large, billion dollar defense manufacturers – such as Connecticut’s own Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky – to small family-owned businesses. C.V. Tool offers their customers a variety of services, including CNC turning and milling, precision grinding, welding, and jig bore work. C.V. Tool takes pride in their unique capability to work with any material and to handle large CNC turning and CNC milling projects. The manufacturer recently invested in a new turning envelope machine that can accommodate products 118 inches in diameter, 78 inches in height, and nearly 18,000 pounds in weight. 

C.V. Tool has grown exponentially since they were founded in 1980. Today, C.V. Tool employs 60 highly skilled machinists and quality control personnel out of a 40,000 square foot temperature controlled manufacturing facility in Southington. They also operate a facility in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This upcoming year, C.V. Tool will break ground on a new 15,000 square foot addition to their Southington work space. The Southington manufacturer is actively seeking to expand their team and hire several new Connecticut workers.

Now they have a growing list of work orders from both large and small defense companies, and they’re more than ready to ride this new wave of re-industrialization,” said Murphy. “I’ll do everything I can to help C.V. Tool maintain their strong momentum and will keep working hard to grow manufacturing in Connecticut.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,602 manufacturers account for 10.2% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
