HARTFORD–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that Enviro Power, based in South Windsor, has been named June’s “Innovator of the Month.” Enviro Power is an energy technology company with a focus on replacing aging heating equipment with greener, lower cost heat and power solutions for homeowners and businesses. Their SmartWatt Boiler technology is an efficient heating system designed to generate close-to-zero cost electricity and provide backup power while reducing carbon emissions and enhancing grid resiliency.

“High energy costs make it more difficult for Connecticut families to keep their homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Thankfully, companies like Enviro Power are stepping up to replace aging and inefficient heating equipment with systems that are more affordable, reliable and good for the environment. I’m proud to recognize their innovative work in Connecticut,” said Murphy.

“Connecticut is a growing hub for energy startups. Enviro Power’s capacity to meet multiple, important milestones, including the installation of pilots, and reaching serial production, is a result of the supportive environment we have here in Connecticut, and the large pool of talent in the fields of innovation and engineering. Now, that we are ready to start selling our SmartWatt Boiler solution, working with state entities like PURA and DEEP is key in supporting the growth of our company, and our capacity to provide millions of property owners with access to reliable, cleaner, and low-cost energy,” said Dan Nadav, CEO of Enviro Power.

Murphy believes entrepreneurship and innovation are the building blocks for a strong economy. In the U.S. Senate, he has introduced two bipartisan pieces of legislation to incentivize angel investors to put more money into startup companies—the Angel Tax Credit Act and the Helping Angels Lead Our Startups (HALOS) Act. Startup companies create an average of 2 million jobs each year.
