HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Micro Precision LLC of South Windham is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded in 1981, Micro Precision manufactures precision-machined components, such as hydraulic accumulators, valves, actuators, manifold assemblies, and air horns, for the railroad and defense industries. Micro Precision’s customers include the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Navy, and Electric Boat. The South Windham manufacturer is proud to provide complete manufacturing, assembly, and testing of components for the Navy Nuclear Submarine program.

With the help of 30 Connecticut employees, Micro Precision’s products are used in countries around the world. Micro Precision is currently looking to expand their workforce and hire skilled CNC (Computer Numerical Control) toolmakers and machinists for its second shift.

“During my visit to the Micro Precision facility in South Windham earlier this month, I learned that Micro Precision is one of just a handful of manufacturers certified to make Level 1 sub-safe components for Electric Boat. That means Micro Precision’s products are literally a lifeline for the brave men and women in uniform aboard Electric Boat submarines,” said Murphy. “Micro Precision should be proud of their role in keeping our Armed Forces safe.”

General Manager and Vice President at Micro Precision LLC, Joe Loffredo, said, “Micro Precision is very proud of the quality products our dedicated employees produce on a daily basis to support all of our customers. We greatly appreciate the years of support from Senator Murphy and Congressman Courtney for their efforts in promoting the importance of manufacturing in our state.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
