TORRINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that Dymax Corporation, Inc. will be recognized as “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer”. The world-class manufacturer of advanced light-curable adhesives, oligomers, coatings, light-curing equipment, and fluid dispense systems was founded in Torrington 35 years ago by Andrew and Clai Bachmann. Over the last three decades, Dymax – which was originally called the American Chemical and Engineering Company – has evolved into a leading manufacturer with clients and locations all over the world. Today, the company employs about 270 individuals, with 180 of them based out of Connecticut.

Dymax products are utilized by design engineers in the medical device, electronic, optical, aerospace, automotive, appliance, metal finishing, and alternative energy industries to optimize assembly processes, improve manufacturing efficiency, and lower costs. Their products are used to produce a number of different goods, including automobiles, cell phones, respiratory masks, syringes, and fuel cells. In fact, Harley Davidson - the well-known manufacturer of motorcycles - even commissioned Dymax for their services in the early 1980’s.

Today, the company is headquartered in Torrington, but has an additional Torrington facility dedicated solely to the production of oligomers and coatings, as well as five other facilities in Germany, China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Singapore. Year after year, Dymax has maintained steady growth. In 2010, Dymax was awarded an Export Achievement Certificate by the U.S. Department of Commerce, and for the last eight consecutive years, they have been identified as one of the fastest-growing companies in the country by Inc. Magazine.

“We are so lucky to have one of the most sophisticated and respected manufacturers in the supply chain calling our state home,”
said Murphy. “The Bachmann family has invested so much into our local area, providing hundreds of sustainable jobs to our residents at one of the fastest rates of any other Connecticut manufacturer. Over the last 35 years, Dymax has become an invaluable asset to the community, and I’m confident that the outstanding workforce that Connecticut has to provide is at least partly to thank. I’m proud to highlight Dymax as this week’s Monday Manufacturer, and I look forward to working with them for generations to come.”

“From the very beginning when Dymax pioneered free radical light-curing chemistries and curing systems, the company has prided itself on growth and technology development. We’re proud to be recognized by Senator Murphy and look forward to not only our own growth, but the continued growth of manufacturing in CT,”
said Paul Rachielles, Global Marketing Manager of Dymax Corporation, Inc.

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,602 manufacturers account for 10.2% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
