WOODBRIDGE – After touring the Air Handling Systems facility in Woodbridge, Connecticut last week, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced today that Air Handling Systems is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Air Handling Systems is a Woodbridge-based manufacturer of dust collection, fume collection, industrial ventilation, and air systems for the aerospace, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. The company is owned and operated by the Scott family, who produce both custom and stock orders for customers across Connecticut and around the world in Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

With more than 60 years in the sheet metal business, the Scott family has gained ample experience on sustaining a successful manufacturing enterprise, and has advocated for the best interests of other manufacturers and small businesses around Connecticut. The Scott family prides themselves on the level of expertise and skill that they and their nearly 10 employees have on topics relating to industrial ventilation, and has maintained a commitment to American manufacturing by using only American-made materials in the production of their systems.

Connecticut‘s small businesses demonstrate true leadership when it comes to entrepreneurship and American manufacturing, and Air Handling Systems is no exception,” said Murphy. “As needs for industrial ventilation have changed over the last century,  the Scott family has consistently and successfully adapted their products and services to meet new demands, and they’re proving to customers worldwide – with next-day delivery and extraordinary customer service – just how valuable Connecticut’s manufacturing industry is to the world market. I saw firsthand how their hard work and dedication to their staff and other Connecticut manufacturers is setting our residents and our state up for success, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to catch their team in action down in Woodbridge last week.”

Jamison Scott, Executive Vice President of Air Handling Systems, said: “With three generations of manufacturing here in Connecticut we look forward to future growth with manufacturing rebounding and growing both here at home and nationwide.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,602 manufacturers account for 10.2% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
