WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Burke Precision Machine Co., Inc. in East Granby is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded by East Granby native Louis Burke in 1952, Burke Precision Machine is a third-generation company that specializes in CNC machining of aerospace, pharmaceutical, and commercial components. Peter Burke, Louis’s grandson, now heads the company, which has expanded to a 10,000 square foot facility with 12 employees. Burke Precision Machine serves a variety of clients, including the Department of Defense, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Oshkosh Corp, Barnes Aerospace, and Eppendorf.
Burke Precision Machine is committed to its roots in the East Granby community. The company works closely with East Granby Public High Schools and serves as an advisor on the board of the 5th year Asnuntuck Advanced Manufacturing Program. The company also supports local youth sports programs, like the East Granby and Granby Little Leagues and Simsbury Youth Hockey.
“Burke Precision Machine is small but mighty. For over 60 years, Burke Precision Machine has provided high quality products to customers like the Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin. They are committed to their community through partnerships with local schools and youth sports leagues. I’m proud to highlight them,” said Murphy.
“I would like to thank Senator Murphy for his time, commitment, and focus on continuing to keep our region strong in manufacturing for years to come. Our continued focus on quality, on time delivery, and communication are the keys to our company’s successes over the last 66 years,” said Peter Burke, President Burke Precision Machine Co., Inc.
The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the BuyAmerican.gov Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
