HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Perry Technology Corporation is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded in 1949, Perry Technology is a second-generation, family-owned and operated manufacturer of precision gears, splined couplings, and complex-machined components for the aerospace, power generation, military, and medical industries. The company employs 110 workers out of two Connecticut facilities – a 150,000 square foot facility in New Hartford and an 8,000 square foot facility in Canton.

As an International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) certified manufacturer, Perry Technology produces critical drive components for both U.S. military defense systems and commercial aerospace systems providers around the world. Their customer base includes many major original equipment manufacturers such as Sikorsky, General Electric, General Dynamics, and NASA, as well as many smaller companies in Connecticut, New England and beyond. The Connecticut manufacturer works with the state Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship Training to provide in-house on-the-job training to students from local trade schools to help advance their careers and obtain Journeymen certificates in their chosen field.

“The gears and engine parts made each day by the team of Connecticut manufacturers at Perry Technology are being flown on aircraft all over the world. That’s something to be proud of,” said Murphy. “Congratulations to the entire Perry Technology team on nearly seven decades in the business.”

Dan Seger, Vice President of Perry Technology Corporation, said, “We are honored to be recognized by Sen. Murphy and applaud his good work on behalf of Connecticut manufacturers. Perry Technology Corporation has always maintained the high standards of our Connecticut manufacturing heritage. As a family-owned business, we take pride in our long-standing and skilled staff of machinists, programmers and engineers; some working here a lifetime, spanning multiple generations. We look forward to continued growth and to supporting many Connecticut generations to come.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
