HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that AeroCision of Chester, Connecticut, is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” AeroCision’s 64 Chester-based employees manufacture machined aerospace parts, such as complex rings and 5-axis casings, for customers including Rolls-Royce, General Electric Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace, and the U.S. Department of Defense. The manufacturing firm, originally founded in Connecticut more than 60 years ago under a different name, was purchased in 2008 by AeroCision CEO Andrew Gibson and his business partner Patrick Bromley. Since Gibson and Bromley took over, AeroCision has invested in the latest enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and employee training, purchased all new Computer Numeric Control machines, made major investments in engineering, increased employee wages, improved employee health care benefits, and doubled the size of the now-40,000 square foot manufacturing facility. AeroCision also operates a facility in Bangalore, India.

AeroCision has represented the state of Connecticut at the International Air Show in Paris and Farnborough for the last several years. The manufacturer recently received a $375,000 investment from the state of Connecticut, and also recently won $100 million in multi-year contracts. AeroCision is proud to invest their profits into engineering resources, training, and new technology, and is expecting to introduce a new product in the coming months.

Gibson and the AeroCision team are committed to giving back to the community, supporting High Hopes Therapeutic Riding in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and providing engineering internships to students from the University of Connecticut and other universities around the country.  Five engineering students are currently completing their internships this summer.

“Andrew, Patrick, and the entire AeroCision team have turned a passion for engineering and innovation into a state of the art manufacturer,” said Murphy. “And by providing internships and hands-on training to aspiring engineers, they’re showing Connecticut’s future generation of manufacturers just how it’s done. I’m looking forward to working closely with the AeroCision team as they continue to grow their business.”

Andrew Gibson, CEO of AeroCision, said, “The secret to our success is our highly performing people. We owe it all to AeroCision’s amazing employees who possess first class skills and above all, support each other and ultimately work well together. Creating a positive customer culture is important, but without a web of fabulous people holding it all together, culture is just a word.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,602 manufacturers account for 10.2% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act
