HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Identification Products of Bridgeport is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded in 1968, Identification Products designs, engineers, and manufactures custom labels, name plates, decals, graphic overlays, gaskets, control panels, dials, and other items for more than 400 active customers. The Bridgeport manufacturer uses digital printing, precision die cutting, laser marking, micro machining, and other techniques to serve the military and various industries, including the marine, shipbuilding, pharmaceutical, renewable energy, telecommunications, and security sectors. With the help of 45 employees, Identification Products is proud to serve organizations such as Merck, Disney, ESPEN, GE, United Technologies, and Honeywell.
Identification Products operates two facilities in Bridgeport – one on State Street and the other just a few blocks down the road on Sillman Avenue. The manufacturer recently received a $50,000 grant from Connecticut’s Manufacturing Voucher Program. Identification Products used the money to invest in equipment that increases the speed – from 100 feet per minute to 500 feet per minutes – at which they can print materials. They’ve also recently expanded their services and seen significant growth in serving the medical and food industries.
“Identification Products is investing in new machinery that’s helping them attract new clients and deliver larger orders. That’s good news for Identification Products’ wallet, their employees, and business across our state,” said Murphy. “Congratulations to the whole Identification Products team as they near five decades of business in Connecticut!”
Identification Products President, Paul Enos, said, “Connecticut has proven to be a valued business partner for us at Identification Products. In a world where perfect quality and on-time delivery is a given, making a difference has to come through the use of the latest technologies and a skilled workforce to assure a high level of productivity. We’ve been able to accomplish that here in Bridgeport along with the support of our elected officials.”
The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
