WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will travel to Bahrain this weekend. Murphy will attend the Manama Dialogue to speak about U.S. policy and alliance relations in the Middle East. He will also meet with leaders from across the region and officials within United States Government who handle Middle East policy, and visit the United States Fifth Fleet.

“Under President Trump, U.S. policy in the Middle East has completely fallen apart. This administration has cozied up to autocratic regimes while neglecting responsibility to bring wars in Yemen, Syria, and Libya to an end,” said Murphy. “Trump’s severe missteps are a threat to U.S. interests and national security, which is why Congress must use opportunities such as the Manama Dialogue to discuss shared priorities, strengthen our alliances, and promote democratic values that make us safer.”
