WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Monday released a video commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which helped bring peace to Ireland and the United Kingdom after decades of conflict.

“As we commemorate 25 years of hard-earned peace, it's vital we take steps to preserve the peace established by the Good Friday Agreement. This agreement is one of the great success stories of American-led diplomacy, proving that it's still possible to achieve peace even in the most interminable and intractable of conflicts. We should celebrate it and recommit ourselves to preserving it,” said Murphy.

Last month, Murphy cosponsored a resolution commemorating the anniversary. In February, Murphy released a statement on the Windsor Framework. Earlier this year, Murphy met with Irish Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin and UK Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Chris Heaton-Harris.
