WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) released the following statement on Metro-North’s decision to restore direct morning service from Waterbury to Stamford beginning July 7:
Metro-North’s decision to reinstate the early morning Waterbury-Stamford direct train is welcome news for everybody who relies on this train. We were in Waterbury only days ago to call for this train service to be restored, and we’re glad Metro-North stepped up and answered our call. For too many riders, the Waterbury branch line has long felt like an afterthought when compared with the rest of the region’s rail system. Ensuring regular, convenient service is the first step toward rebuilding this rail line as real engine of robust economic growth for the region.
