HARTFORD—U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on Tuesday issued the following statements after Governor Ned Lamont, along with Hartford HealthCare (HHC) and Quest Diagnostics, announced that several additional COVID-19 testing sites would soon be online to increase testing in some of Connecticut’s hardest hit urban areas.

“This is great news for Connecticut and the type of innovation that we need to tackle this virus. Our ability to test more people, especially in our hardest hit urban areas, will go a long way toward flattening the curve and getting people in Connecticut back to work. While the White House has totally deflected responsibly, Governor Lamont has been leading by example. His decisive leadership during the pandemic has helped to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Murphy.

“This very significant new testing - a model for the nation - will help drive down infection and save lives. It will also move us more quickly and safely to reopening our state. Although located in hard hit urban communities, expanded testing will greatly benefit all Connecticut,” said Blumenthal. “Governor Lamont has been bold and decisive through this crisis, and today’s announcement is another example of gubernatorial leadership in the wake of White House dysfunction and disinformation.”
