HARTFORD – Today, U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Representatives John Larson (CT-1) and Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) released the following statement after FuelCell Energy, Inc., headquartered in Danbury with a facility in Torrington, announced an agreement with Exxon Mobil Corporation to pursue novel technology to capture carbon dioxide at power plants through a new application of carbonate fuel cells.
"Improved methods of carbon capture and sequestration can help our country achieve its carbon reduction goals faster and more efficiently, further reducing the harrowing risk of climate change. This development not only reduces carbon emissions, but also electricity costs. FuelCell Energy's prominent role in this technological breakthrough is another example of Connecticut companies on the forefront of innovation."
