Hartford – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued a statement today after the House of Representatives approved the FY15 National Defense Authorization Act with language to establish a new unit of the National Park System within the Coltsville Historic District:
“Today’s vote is a huge win for Coltsville, Hartford and the state of Connecticut, and we look forward to leading this measure to a victory in the Senate next week. Coltsville is a historic gem, enshrining Colt’s powerful role in advancing the industrial revolution and manufacturing in Connecticut and nationwide. Designation as a national park will help ensure that generations to come have the opportunity to visit and learn about this important part of our state’s history.
Congressman Larson's leadership on this effort has been extraordinary and we are proud to have him at the helm. John has been working over a decade on this designation and today's passage is a credit to thousands of hours he has put into this crusade. It won't be easy to bring it across the finish line but we will do everything we can to support John's efforts,” Murphy and Blumenthal said.
