HARTFORD —Today, U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced $1,560,526 in federal funding to the Town of Guilford from the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s (FEMA) Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program. The funding will allow the Guilford Fire Department to hire 8 new firefighters.
“Day in and day out, firefighters put their lives on the line to save others, and they deserve the support needed to do their jobs safely and effectively. These significant federal dollars will help ensure that the Guilford Fire Department is well-staffed and ready to protect the community. We applaud FEMA for this wise investment and thank the brave firefighters in Guilford for their tireless service,” said Murphy, Blumenthal, and DeLauro.
