WASHINGTONU.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) announced that they are accepting applications for vacancies on the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

“Making recommendations for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench is one of the most consequential responsibilities we have as United States Senators. We are looking forward to reviewing applications from Connecticut’s diverse, talented legal community, and encourage all qualified members to apply,” said Blumenthal and Murphy.

Applicants for the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut should email their interest and request for a questionnaire to richard_kehoe@blumenthal.senate.gov and dustin_harrison@blumenthal.senate.gov. Completed questionnaires must be filed by 12:00 AM ET on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

The senators will be assisted in the selection process by a screening committee, which will review the questionnaires and make recommendations to the senators, who will interview the top candidates and submit recommendations to the White House. Once the President submits a nomination to the Senate, the nominee will be reviewed by the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which Blumenthal is a member. If a nomination is approved by the Judiciary Committee, the nomination will be sent to the full Senate for consideration.
