HARTFORD—U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today, announced that Prospect Machine Products and Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. have received, respectively, the President’s “E” Award for Exports and the President’s “E” Award for Service to Exporters. Awarded annually through the U.S. Department of Commerce, the President’s “E” Award recognizes persons, firms, or organizations which contribute significantly in the effort to increase United States exports.

“This award is a testament to the strength of Connecticut manufacturers. Prospect Machine Products and Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. are bringing Connecticut products and expertise to markets around the world,” said Murphy. “I commend these companies on their impressive track record and will continue to advocate for expanding support of U.S. global exports and Connecticut manufacturing.”

“This landmark recognition is hugely impressive and important. You have my congratulations— and gratitude— for dramatically advancing exports and economic growth in our state. You’re putting Connecticut on the map, and putting people to work, through major job creation.” said Blumenthal.

“Exporting is an important part of our sale,” said Richard Laurenzi, Chairman / CEO of Prospect Machine Products. “Buyers and consumers in foreign markets want quality products made in the United States, and we are honored to receive the E Award. We are a small manufacturer, a family business founded in 1950, so this greatly appreciated honor represents a milestone in our company’s history.”

“The exporting of Connecticut goods and services is the life-blood of our economy” said Ron Angelo, President and CEO of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT). “It is a great honor for CCAT to be recognized for its services to Connecticut exporters throughout our world-class supply chain. Connecticut companies manufacture the most technically advanced products in the world and are leading providers of research and development and technology services. CCAT is proud to assist these companies in enhancing their technical capabilities to compete on the global stage.” Established in 2004, CCAT is a leading provider of applied technology services and workforce training throughout Connecticut’s technology ecosystem.

The President’s “E” Award – established during WWII - is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports. For more information about the “E” Awards and the benefits of exporting, visit www.export.gov.
