HARTFORD – U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and U.S. Representative Jim Himes (CT-4) today congratulated Weston High School on being named a 2019 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School.
“We congratulate Weston High School on this admirable honor. Each day brings another dire warning of the impact climate change is having on our planet. Schools play an important role in teaching the next generation how to live in a responsible and sustainable manner, and we commend the faculty and staff for their commitment to lead by example,” said Murphy, Blumenthal and Himes.
The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School program honor schools that reduce environmental impact and costs, improve the health and wellness of schools, students and staff, and provide effective environmental and sustainable education. Weston High School, along with other honorees from across the nation, will be formally recognized during nation recognition events on September 25, 2019 in Washington D.C.
