WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) accepted an appointment by U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to the United States Military Academy at West Point’s 2015 Board of Visitors. As a member of the Board of Visitors, Murphy will meet with the other board members quarterly to review and update all issues relating to the academy, including morale and discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters.
“West Point is home to many of our nation’s brightest students and strongest leaders, and is one of America’s most hallowed institutions,” said Murphy. “It is a true honor to have been appointed to the academy’s Board of Visitors, and I’m looking forward to working hard on behalf of the dedicated men and women it serves.”
The West Point Board of Visitors was established in 1972 and is constituted annually of four members of the U.S. Senate, five members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and six presidential appointees.
