WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP), on Thursday voted to confirm Xavier Becerra to be the next U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Upon his confirmation, Murphy released the following statement:

“I fought side by side with Xavier Becerra in the House to pass the Affordable Care Act. Nobody knows the importance of the ACA better than Xavier and he's the right person to lead HHS at this critical moment in history. In particular, he knows how much I care about mental health care, and as a member of the Senate HELP committee, I am looking forward to working with Xavier and the Biden administration to make it easier for Americans to get the mental health treatment they need,” said Murphy.
