WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Tuesday applauded President Biden’s Executive Order on Strengthening Access to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid. Murphy attended the signing ceremony at the White House.

“Twelve years ago, the Affordable Care Act transformed our health care system. Millions of Americans gained health care coverage and the assurance they could never again be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition. In Connecticut, more than 112,000 people are currently enrolled through Access Health CT and 522,000 people with pre-existing conditions are protected,” said Murphy. “Despite the Republican Party’s relentless attacks and efforts to repeal, the ACA is more popular than ever. I’m glad to see President Biden continuing to build upon its success and expand access to affordable, high-quality care. Our health care system is still far from perfect, and I’m pushing in Congress to cut drug prices and lower premiums to make sure every American gets the care they need and deserve.”
