WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Friday released the following statement on Connecticut’s selection for a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Planning Grant totaling $977,000, which will allow Connecticut to build out a more comprehensive care model for mental health services. Murphy’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act expanded the CCBHC program to give more people across the country access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment. CCBHCs provide crisis services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and serve anyone who requests care for mental health or substance use, regardless of their ability to pay.
“Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics help everyone access and afford the mental health care they need. When we wrote the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, expanding access to mental health services was a big priority, and I’m thrilled that Connecticut continues to reap the benefits of this legislation. This funding sets the groundwork for establishing a statewide CCBHC model in our state, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure it gets the federal support it needs to be successful.”
