WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Congressman John Larson (CT-1), Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2), Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4), and Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-5) released the following statement after the U.S Navy awarded a $1.3 billion contract to Sikorsky to build an additional 12 new CH-53K “King Stallion” helicopters at Sikorsky in Stratford, bringing critical federal investment to Connecticut’s defense manufacturing industry.
“Today’s announcement on a new contract to produce more CH-53K King Stallion helicopters is great news for both our Armed Services and Connecticut’s workforce. The CH-53K is unmatched in its heavy-lift capability, and will empower our servicemembers with the world’s best helicopter, made right here in Connecticut,” said the delegation. “We will continue to fight for additional funding – and the high-skilled, good-paying jobs in Connecticut that these investments support – to ensure the Marine Corps gets every CH-53K they need for to complete their mission in the years ahead.”
