(Hartford, CT)— The Connecticut Congressional Delegation sent a letter to Randall Stephenson, CEO of AT&T Corporation, to urge his reconsideration of the decision to move 92 union positions and 25 management positions from the AT&T facility in Meriden to facilities in Georgia and Tennessee.
“These positions are quality, good paying jobs that provide fair wages and compensation to many Connecticut families,” the Delegation wrote in the letter to Stephenson. “Transferring these positions means that many of your current employees will lose their jobs because they may be unable to transfer to those locations. These job losses will impose significant financial and emotional hardships on your current employees and their families.”

Mr. Randall Stephenson, CEO
AT&T Corporation

Dear Mr. Stephenson:
We write to urge your reconsideration of the recently announced decision to move 92 union positions and 25 management positions from your facility in Meriden, Connecticut to facilities in Georgia and Tennessee. These positions are quality, good paying jobs that provide fair wages and compensation to many Connecticut families.
Transferring these positions means that many of your current employees will lose their jobs because they may be unable to transfer to those locations. These job losses will impose significant financial and emotional hardships on your current employees and their families.
You indicate that the decision was based on efficiencies. However, these transfers will cause your company to lose highly valuable, trained and dedicated employees while also vacating a substantial portion of your Meriden facility.
We are proud of Connecticut’s productive, educated workers whose work ethic and professionalism make them a valuable asset for any employer. We therefore ask you to take a second look at the decision to eliminate more than 100 jobs in Meriden.
