HARTFORD—Today, U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Representatives John Larson (D-1), Joe Courtney (D-2), Rosa DeLauro (D-3), Jim Himes (D-4), and Jahana Hayes (D-5) applauded $7.5 million that Connecticut health centers will receive from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), to expand COVID-19 testing. The funding was passed as a part of the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act.

“This critical federal funding increases vital access to COVID-19 testing for our most vulnerable communities. Locally based health centers will have the financial resources needed to better assist our communities as we start to recover from this pandemic.  This investment in expanded COVID-19 testing is crucial to understanding the potential risks and better assessing the specific needs of our communities as the state begins to reopen. Connecticut’s health centers are tirelessly serving the unique needs of their communities every day. We will continue to fight for additional funding to support them,” said the delegation.
