WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), leader of the Senate Democrats’ #ACAWorks campaign, released the following statement after House Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, revoking health insurance from millions of Americans. Republicans have attempted to sabotage the Affordable Care Act more than 50 times.
"It's time for the House Republicans to break their addiction to health care repeal. They today voted to take health care away from the tens of millions of Americans, and go back to the day when people got denied coverage and went bankrupt simply because they got sick. Americans don't want to go back to the day when insurance companies were in charge of our health care and millions of families with sick loved ones were left to fend for themselves because they couldn't afford health care coverage.
“Republicans continue to live in an alternate universe. The Affordable Care Act is working. More people have health insurance, skyrocketing costs are coming down to earth, and American families are back in charge of their health care."
