Who says the U.S. Senate is a stuffy place?

Connecticut Democrat Chris Murphy, the third-youngest member in the upper chamber, hosted a group of visiting eighth graders at the U.S. Capitol Thursday from Greens Farms Academy in Westport.

The annual trip to Washington, D.C., is the culmination of a year-long government class taught by history teacher Jeremy McWhorter.

Bringing a smart phone onto the floor of the Senate, where the median age of a senator is 62, is a no-no.
But on the steps outside the Capitol, just like on rope lines at Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders ralliers, it’s open season for selfies.

Murphy, 42, flagged down Democratic colleague Cory Booker, 46, of New Jersey, for a selfie with the students, which Connecticut’s junior senator posted on Twitter.
No selfie stick required.
