U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn, on Sunday hailed the five-year anniversary of the passage of Obamacare by saying the number of Connecticut residents who have gained health insurance could fill UConn’s Gampel Pavilion 54 times.
“In Connecticut, the more than 550,000 people who have enrolled through Access Health CT could fill the UConn’s Gampel Pavilion a staggering 54 times over,” Murphy said of the Affordable Care Act.
“Nationwide, more than 16 million have gained coverage because of the law. But these facts are more than just numbers, they represent the 16 million individual stories of friends, neighbors and parents who finally know the freedom and security that come with health insurance,” the senator said.
“The law’s indisputable success is something we should all be celebrating, regardless of political affiliation,” Murphy added. “Five years of partisan fighting is enough. Americans are tired of us having the same fight over and over, and I am too. The ACA was a great start, but there’s more work to be done. It’s time for Congress to come together in pursuit of even more successes.”
