WASHINGTON—Sikorsky Aircraft on Tuesday was awarded $354 million in modification funding for 29 Navy MH-60R Seahawk helicopters to be built at the company’s sprawling Stratford helicopter plant.
The award is part of a larger five-year $8.7 billion contract to build 653 aircraft for the Army, Navy and foreign military forces.

``The U.S. armed forces continue to invest in Sikorsky because of the company’s record of success and unparalleled leadership in developing cutting-edge defense technologies,’’ Sens. Chris Murphy, Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Rosa DeLauro said in a joint statement. ``We support the hardworking men and women of Connecticut who are working to deliver the best helicopters in the world to our military and will continue to fight to keep jobs here in Connecticut.’’
